LAI Membership is extended by invitation only.
Candidates must be nominated by active members and vetted by the chapter.
Because our members are among the foremost land economics professionals in the world, each nomination has a screening process that carefully examines expertise, accomplishments and values
Some of the minimum requirements necessary for nomination:
Have 10 or more years of experience in your area of practice
Be professionally distinguished
Be an outstanding contributor to the field of land economics
Demonstrate high standards of professional ethics
Be committed to public service
Attend two monthly luncheons (in the year of nomination)

Class of 2027 Nominations are now open!
Dear fellow LAI members,
I’m pleased to announce that we are opening the Nominations process for the LAI San Diego Class of 2027.
As you know, LAI is the only local land economics organization where membership is honorary and selective. Your nominations ensure that our LAI chapter continues to thrive and offers the best educational programming, stimulating discourse, and invaluable relationship-building.
The Sponsor and Nominee applications are now live (below). The deadline for nominations is October 2, 2026. In addition, all candidates for membership must attend a minimum of two LAI luncheons before their nomination can be officially considered, although we do extend the programming requirement to include the November lunch, should the application be submitted by October 2, 2026.
Luncheons will be held on the following dates:
● Tuesday, September 15th
● Tuesday, October 13th
● Tuesday, November 10th
